Aloo Tikki Fasting Recipe

Ingredients for Potato Tikki

Potatoes – 2
Grnn peas -- 1/4 cup[cooked]
Chopped ginger -- 1 tbsp
Green chillies -- 1 [chopped]
Sendha namak to taste
Green Chilies – 2
Coriander leaves 1 tbsp [chopped]

Method of Preparing Potato Tikki

Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Add salt and pepper  and knead until properly mixed.
Mash the cooked green peas and add chopped green chillies, salt,chopped coriander leaves  and chopped ginger.
Take small portion of potato and make a  ball.
 Flatten each ball at a round patty and place a small portion of a stuffing in the center and fold the edges together very finely, so that mixture does not come out.. Heat oil in a non stick pan, and shallow fry the potato tikkies, till golden brown.
Serve hot with green chutney.

Method of Preparing Potato Fry

Peel and slice or cut into  length wise the potatoes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the potatoes until crisp.
Remove the fried potatoes  onto a kitchen towel. Sprinkle pepper powder and sendha namak [rock salt].

Raw Banana curry Fasting Reccipe

Ingredients of Raw Banana Curry

Raw Banana – 2
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper Powder – 1/4 tsp
Green Chilies – 2 [chopped]
Sendha Namak [rock salt] to taste

Method of Preparing Raw Banana Curry

Peel off the bananas and cut into small pieces. Take abundant amount of wa5ter in a bowl and add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder before they get discolored.

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, chopped green chilies, and fry for 2 minutes. Add turmeric powder, pepper powder, banana pieces and rock salt sendha namak. Mix well. Add little water and cover the pan and cook on low flame for 10—15 minutes.

Remove the cover and transfer into a serving dish and serve hot.

Arabi – 200gms
Ajwain [caraway seeds] – 1/4 tsp

Method of Preparing Fried Arabi

Boil the Arabi and peel, and cut into two
Heat oil in a pan and put caraway seeds [ajwain] when it starts spluttering, add ginger paste and chopped green chilies and fry for 2 minutes. Add arabi pieces, dry mango powder and stir on low flame.

Add pepper powder, red chilli powder, rock salt and coriander powder. Mix well and serve hot

Sweet Potato –2
Sendha Namak [Rock Salt] to taste
Pepper Powder to taste
Lemon Juice -- 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves -- 1 tsp[chopped]

Method of Preparing Sweet Potato Chat

Steam the sweet potatoes in a steamer.
Peel and cut into cubes. Add sendha namak and pepper powder,  to taste and  lemon juice.  Mix well and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve

Kuttu Atta Paratha Recipe

Ingredients for Kuttu Atta Paratha

Kuttu Atta – 1 cup

Potato –1 [boil, peel and mashed]

Dry flour for dusting

Sendha Namak to taste

Ghee – 1 tbsp

Method of Preparing Kuttu Atta Paratha

Mix kuttu atta with mashed potato and sentha namak [rock salt].

Add enough water and make smooth dough. Knead well.

Cover the dough and keep aside for 20 minutes. Divide the dough into 4 parts and shape them into round balls using dry flour.

Rollout these balls into chapattis. Heat the griddle [tava], and put the chappati on the griddle and cook for 2 minutes or until under side is cooked. Flip the parathas and apply the ghee. Again flip and cook both sides.

Remove the parathas and serve hot.

Ingredients for Kuttu Atta Potato Poori

Kuttu Atta –1 cup

Potato –1 [peels, boiled and mashed]

Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp

Sendha Namak [Rock Salt] to taste

Oil for Frying

Method of Preparing Kuttu potato Poori

Mix the kuttu atta with mashed potato, pepper powder and sendha namak [rock salt]. Add enough water and make it tight dough.

Rollout pooris from the kuttu atta dough. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the kuttu pooris and serve hot.

Cook sabudana in pressure cooker. Heat oil in a pan and fry the aloo cubes and cover the pan wirh a lid and cook till the potato render.

Add the boiled sabudana, sendha namak, and pepper powder and mix well. Cook again for10 minutes on low flame. Mix gently and remove from the flame and serve hot.

Makhana [Lotus Seeds] Fry

Ingredients for Makhana Fry

Makhana – 1 cup

Pepper Powder – 1/4 cup

Oil – 2 tsp

Sentha Namak [Rock Salt] to taste

Method of Makhana Fry

Heat oil in a pan fry makhana till it becomes fluffy. Remove from the flame and add sentha Namak and pepper power and serve hot

Sabudana [Sago] Kichdi Recipe

Sabudana [Sago] Kichadi is a popular recipe.It is mostly used in puddings . Sago is full of starch or carbohydrates and is great for a quick boost of energy. So it is good for fasting times.Sago gruel is also great when you are sick because it gives you quick energy.

Ingredients of  Sabudanana Kichdi

Sabudana  [Sago] --1 cup [ wash and soak in water for 2 hours]
Potato --1[peel and cut into cubes]
Green chillies --2 [chopped]
Caraway Seeds -- 1 tsp
Sentha Namak [ Rock Salt] to taste
Pepper Powder --1/2 tsp
Asafoetida --1 pinch
Coconut -- 1 tbsp [grated]
Oil -- 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves -- 2 tsp [chopped]

Method of Preparing Sabudana [Sago]  Kichdi

Heat oil in a pan, add caraway seeds [ajwain], chopped green chillies,  Asafoetida and fry for two  minutes. Add potato cubes and fry for another two  minutes.
 Drain and add soaked sabudana, sentha namak and enough water to boil.
Cook on low flame until the sabudanana become transperent.
Remove from the flame and sprinkle pepper powder and grated coconut
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
